Held during the Africa Down Under Conference in September, this prestigious event is a platform to showcase the impact of your work on the ground.
The awards are open to Australian companies engaged in the African resources sector. This includes explorers, producers, mining services companies and non-profit organisations/charities that partner with Australian resource companies in Africa. Both AAMEG members and non-members can enter.

This award recognises outstanding community initiatives by an explorer, developer or mining services company that deliver sustainable, long-term benefits at a community, regional or national level. It highlights companies that lead with innovation and genuine engagement, delivering measurable social impact in the areas they operate.
Judging criteria will take into account:
Social Innovation: Demonstrates novel/improved solution to a social development challenge that creates sustainable outcomes for communities, in line with socio-economic development priorities.
Collaboration & Engagement: Strong cross-sector partnerships and inclusive consultation with host governments and communities.
Community Benefits & Longevity: Tangible improvements to quality of life, human development and sustained impact.

This award acknowledges resource producing companies operating in Africa who are delivering wide-reaching positive economic and social impacts. It celebrates cumulative efforts over time – not just a single initiative – that have delivered measurable improvements to quality of life, strengthened regional capacity and fostered long-term partnerships with governments and communities. The recipient will exemplify responsible leadership, broad impact and a commitment to driving positive change across multiple regions.
Judging criteria will take into account:
Footprint of Impact: Context and scale of operations and number of communities/regions positively impacted.
Economic Benefits: Tangible outcomes and benefits from operations that have resulted in material/measurable improvements to quality of life at local, regional and national levels.
Government & Community Relations: Effective consultation and long-term partnerships with government and community stakeholders.

This award recognises innovation from mining and mining services companies that address critical challenges and create meaningful change. It celebrates technology, process, or service advancements that benefit both operations and host communities.
Judging criteria will take into account:
Issue Addressed: The nature of the issue may relate to one or more of the following topics: sustainability, climate change, biodiversity, waste, water and resource use, pollution, human rights, labour practices, operational efficiencies, safety, health, community, diversity, corporate governance, ethics, compliance, executive pay, diversity, lobbying, approach to taxation.
Process & Implementation: Evidence of goal-driven initiatives with collaborative engagement.
Outcome & Impact: Demonstrated or projected benefits.

This award honours a charity or not-for-profit that has delivered meaningful, lasting improvements to host communities in Africa. It recognises those creating innovative solutions and building capacity through partnerships with the resources sector.
Judging criteria will take into account:
Positive Impact: tangible benefits that improve the quality of life to the host community as a result of innovations such as improving systems, inventing new approaches and creating new solutions.
Sustainable Development: Demonstrates a human development approach by investing in local capabilities, skills and experience so there is a local capacity to deliver in the long term.
Partnership Capacity: Demonstrated or potential ability to partner with mining and energy companies for shared outcomes.
