Bill is executive chairman of Paydirt Media Pty Ltd, publisher of the leading resources news magazines, “Australia’s Paydirt” and “Gold Mining Journal”. The company also owns and manages several major investor-focused resources conferences across Australia. Bill has made a remarkable impression on Australia Africa’s mining industry; he created and launched the “Africa Down Under” Conference (ADU) in 2003, and in 2010 was asked by the former Federal Trade Minister, Hon Simon Crean to form an industry working group to build closer links between Australian mining companies, and Australian and African governments, thus paving the way for the establishment of The Australia Africa Minerals & Energy Group in April 2011, where Bill served as a Director for five years. Bill has recently commenced a second term on Australian Foreign Minister’s Advisory Group on Australian African Relations (AAGAR). He was also National Chair of the Australian-African Business Council (AABC) and since 2003 has been proud to serve as the Honorary Consul for South Africa in Western Australia. AAMEG is extremely grateful for the knowledge and insights Bill has continued to provide since our inception. It is with great pleasure that we award Bill a lifetime membership.

Bill was a founding director of AAMEG in 2011, Chair from 2011 to early 2016 and continued as a director until 2019. A geologist who has worked for more than 30 years in emerging and developing countries, 16 years of which were in Central Africa, Bill has been involved in African resource-sector operations at all levels; from grass-roots exploration, through to mine development and onsite production of refined metal. Bill’s desire to enhance the Australian industry’s capacity to strengthen its world-leading position in offshore resource development practice “beyond just technical aspects”, and dedication to contributing more meaningfully to the economic development of the countries in Africa, have seen him as a deserving recipient of a lifetime membership with AAMEG. Bill has substantial experience in political and operational risk management, with a good appreciation for the value of enlightened approaches to community engagement and social development work, and the subsequent impact on risk mitigation and the building of an enduring competitive advantage. Bill has been an integral partner in the development of AAMEG and we have been honoured to present him with a lifetime membership.

Working in the extractives industry for over thirty years, Robin’s career started underground as a mining engineer, gradually shifting towards project management, and then taking an unexpected yet rewarding turn towards community relations in Ghana back in 2005. Since then, his path has led him through a diverse range of cultures and countries, from Madagascar to Vietnam, each teaching invaluable lessons about the importance of building positive, mutually beneficial relationships between companies and communities. AAMEG appreciates the effort and level of dedication Robin has continually shown to strengthen AAMEG’s position as the peak body representing Australian companies engaged in the development of Africa’s resource industry, and we are excited to have him on board for life.

Trish is an international social policy and planning specialist with more than 30 years’ experience across the mining, government, health and not for profit sectors. Her breadth of experience includes child protection, seniors and aged care, social justice, community engagement and development, all levels of Government strategy and policy development, and, significant contribution to the Australian extractives sector. In her immediate past CEO position with AAMEG, Trish was responsible for building strong alliances among Australian companies and Australiana and African Governments. Strongly believing that the Australian extractive sector operating across Africa provides great opportunity to be creative and develop sustainable solutions for poverty reduction, Trish’s passion for creating sustainable solutions that empower communities, build capacity and contribute to the development of a just society is a key reason why AAMEG awarded Trish a life membership. Trish currently works as an independent consultant, Tribunal and Board member and continues to work with organisations to make a sustainable and positive difference to individuals and communities. We are extremely grateful for the significant contribution Trish has made to AAMEG.

The National Planning Commission was established through an Act of Parliament in 2017 with two main mandates:
1. To coordinate the development of long and medium term national development plans for Malawi including the flagship projects that would operationalise them.
2. To oversee the implementation of those plans and coordinate the efforts of different stakeholders in achieving common objectives defined in the overall national development agenda.
