Guide to Social Impact Assessment (2020)

By Robin Budden | 29 September 2021

The guide starts with an overview of the regulatory impact assessment process as applied to proposals (mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, agriculture) that bring social change to communities. It works through the key steps of doing a social impact assessment: from scoping to gathering data and writing management plans. The guide then addresses the most important element of social impact assessment – meaningful and early engagement – before turning to specific topics such as communication, cultural competence, principles, the scientific method, ethical standards and privacy.
