About the Nominee & their Nomination

EcoGraf is building a vertically integrated battery anode materials business to produce high purity graphite products for the lithium-ion battery. This highly attractive graphite mining, midstream and downstream business includes Epanko Graphite Mine in Tanzania; Spherical Graphite Facility in Tanzania; and EcoGraf HFfree™ Purification Facilities located in close proximity to the electric vehicle, battery and anode manufacturers.

Azurite is a technical and service provider company focused on providing general business support to foreign and local investors in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially in the mineral exploration and mining sector. Azurite Management has an experienced and technical team who work with companies and individual investors to ensure they achieve their targeted goals in a timely manner. In working closely with Government entities, Azurite Management has a network of contacts within the extractives sectors.


Initiative: Celebrating Tanzanian Women’s Achievements through the Establishment of the PreIWD event in Tanzania

PreIWD is a not-for-profit organisation founded to celebrate Tanzanian women in mining and leadership in an event one week prior to International Women’s Day in honour, and in support, of Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of Republic of Tanzania, the first female president. 

The funds raised from the event are allocated to support women in mining and leadership, capacity building for women in corporate leadership, as well as creating awareness of financial opportunities for women across all sectors. 

In 2024, the PreIWD event was highly successful, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan in attendance. 

 

Highlights

  • Minister of Minerals Mr Anthony Mavunde spoke at the event recognising the importance of women in mining 
  • Annual Awards aligned and supported by the Tanzanian Ministry of Minerals were awarded at the PreIWD event
  • The PreIWD event was attended and received warmly by high-level female dignitaries which included GoT Parliament, Ministry of Minerals, Mining Commission and Foreign Embassies namely, Japan and the United States of America.

  • The 2024 event attracted over 25 sponsors and 330 guests including international guests from Australia, Africa and UK in attendance
