Lycopodium Ventilator Project – 7 News
Lycopodium has designed and fabricated an electrically operated ventilator for use as an emergency backup in the event of a shortage resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Governments around the world have been scrambling to purchase the life-saving piece of equipment—manufactured in a Welshpool warehouse in just over two weeks using a motor similar to those found in an electric wheelchair and an ‘ambu-bag’ used by paramedics to pump a patient’s lungs.
The units can be used in Australia, if needed, or sent to support the communities where they operate in Africa, including Ghana or Burkina Faso.
Here, Seven Network speaks with AAMEG platinum member and Lycopodium Chairman Mick Caratti about the ground-breaking design.
