CSR in the Mining and Extractives Industries
The 4th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Sustainability, Ethics & Governance will focus attention on questions of CSR and sustainability in the mining and extractives (M&E) Sector
Recent decades saw a tremendous uptake of the CSR and sustainability agendas across the M&E industries worldwide and much progress has been made in reducing industry-related social and environmental impacts. However, despite advances in the sector, problems often remain with the implementation of both concepts, evidenced by frequent conflicts between M&E firms and their host communities and operational accidents.
The mining roundtable seeks to provide a platform for robust discussion about how to advance CSR and sustainability in the sector, bringing together the voices of industry, academia and practitioners.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Tim Carstens (CEO Base Resources)
- Charles Roche (Mineral Policy Institute)
- Prof Gavin Hilson (University of Surrey)
- Dr Sara Bice (University of Melbourne)
- Another mining representative to be confirmed
